Shoshone Falls

I.Love.Road.Trips!
DJ and our friend, Doug, headed out a week ago Friday morning on their motorcycles. They took the back roads up to Twin Falls, ID.
They set up camp at Porcupine Campground ~ 28 miles west of Shoshone Falls.
~~~~
Ben and I headed out Saturday morning about 6:30 am in my Yukon pulling the ATVs.
We drove for an hour and a half then pulled into a rest area to check the ATVs. I'm so glad we did! There was only about 3 ft. left of the strap for the Sportsman ~ It was a new strap too. I have no idea how long we drove without the Sportsman being strapped down ~ God is good and was certainly watching over us!
We met DJ and Doug at a truck stop close to Shoshone Falls. We grabbed a bite to eat then headed over to the falls.
 Shoshone Falls ~ Beautiful!
The Snake River trickles and cascades all over the place
So pretty
DJ, Ben and Doug walking back up to the parking lot
Getting ready to head up to Porcupine Campground
That's where we are headed
Nice Mural
Heading west ~ doesn't look like we we're headed towards anything to exciting does it?
Ben had the camera :)
He's fun to travel with :)
So quiet ~ After we got to camp we took the ATVs and motorcycles out for a ride. We went about 40 miles.
We stopped so the boys could look for a geo cache ~ they didn't find it.
Mountain Road
Dusty from the ride.
We stopped and picked up firewood along the way.
Beautiful country ~ reminded me a lot of Hardware Ranch here at home.
 A little blurry ~ took this as we were driving
Porcupine Campground
Taken from my seat by the fire pit as night began to fall :)
Ben went searching for a bit more wood
Nothing as wonderful as sitting by a campfire watching the flames dance!
The stars were amazing :)
Breakfast time ~ DJ made breakfast burritos over the fire.
Ben and I went for a quick ride after breakfast.
We rode down into that valley ~ I just wanted to keep on riding :)
You can see Ben's dust up ahead of me
Heading back home
Maybe he's counting the bullet holes in the sign?
Doug and DJ ready to hit the road
As we came around the corner towards Corinne this is the lovely air we came home to ~ Wildfires create such havoc on your lungs!
As always it was nice to get away even for a short time.
42 ~
Today I am 42 and I am so grateful for all that God has blessed me with. I don't wish I was younger ~ I love the life I have right now.
Thank you to everyone who sent cards and facebook wishes! Thank you to my family for making me feel loved and special :)
My birthday flowers from the girls ~ Dani made my cake.
I'm still so in love with our dining room table :) It's my favorite thing we've ever made!
42 years :)
The Man and Me ~ He has shared 22 of my birthdays with me :)
The men in my life ~ I am blessed.
My Loo ~ She made a fabulous cake! It was strawberry coconut.....so moist and great flavor! Thank you Loo!
Heather couldn't be here tonight so I'm sharing pictures from Sunday. We decided to go for  a quick drive up to Snowbasin.  My favorite flowers are blooming :) They are so cheery!
She took these with her phone. This was our silly face because the sun was bright :)
Around the House
My craft studio is closer to becoming a reality :)
We aren't ready to invest alot of money up there right now ~
What it could use:
~new drywall / mud
~adequate lighting
~adequate outlets
~new floor
~trim
~built in storage
What it's going to get:
~ripped out carpet (done!)
~paint walls and floor
~new sub floor
I ripped the carpet off the stairs Friday night then DJ surprised me and ripped the rest of the carpet out while I was at work Saturday ~ Love that man! For more reasons then ripping out the carpet :)
Carpet gone ~ I'm going to paint the front of the stairs white and the top a blueish green.
Like the blueish green of a mason jar :)
View at the top of the stairs
The loft has 3 little areas
I'm going to paint all the walls a sand color and the floor white ~ It looks kinda rough right now but it will be pretty :)
Working at a frame shop has inspired me to redo our military photos.
We had our pictures in a variety of cheap frames that probably cost a couple of
dollars 2 decades ago!
We are thrilled with how these turned out! The outside mat is called blue n black and the inner is concrete.
We should have done this years ago ~ We also used UV glass to keep the mats and pictures from fading.
DJ's pictures are 26 years old.
Mine are 23 years old ~ I'm the same age in that picture as Heather is right now!
We are working on getting some of DJ's military things framed ~ like his F4 lytho.
There will be cutouts in the mat for his name plate and 2 coins below the lytho.
This has been a fun project for us to work on together ~ deciding how we want everything matted and framed. He doesn't usually care to much but he has alot of interest in this project which makes it fun :)
On a side note ~
Michael W. Smith is one of my favorite contemporary Christian artists. My sister, Mary, introduced me to his music when we were in high school and I've loved him ever since!
He is coming in concert to the Salt Lake City area next week!!
I'm so excited......it will be an incredible night of praise and worship :)
The girls are going with me and possibly some friends.
