Wrap up on the Parade of Homes (almost)

Saturday DJ, Heather and I went through several more homes that were in this years Parade of Homes.

Beautiful shade of blue

Pretty Gray

Tall, distressed wood ~ This is also what their kitchen cabinets looked like. I'm not a fan.
However, I am a fan of the cute girl standing in front of that door :)

Pillow Love ~ They are so pretty

No forgetting what time it is in this house!

Scarf tie back ~ Great idea!

Ok, really? It's the Parade of Homes and all they could come up with was a pot of cheap, plastic flowers to set by the front door? All I can say is "Wow!"

I'm in love with this seating area ~ In particular those gorgeous curtains grabbed my eye as soon as I stepped in the room!!

Genius! What a neat way to display/store board games.

Heather loved this ~ Framed cork board with a huge dry erase decal. Another great idea!

Great color combination ~ Love the earrings, they add a nice pop of color/texture :)

In a couple of days I will share some more Parade of Homes pictures. Mostly bedrooms.
Have a blessed day!

America ~ Land That I Love

The 4th of July is one of my very favorite holidays!
We went up to Huntsville Park for the evening just like we've done since 2003.
We packed a picnic supper of BBQ pork sandwiches, jello salad and chips.

Often times Danielle just doesn't like getting her picture taken but I just had to!

The above picture is looking across the park from where we were sitting and below is Heather ~

  Ben playing with grapes :)
Below Hannah and Heather ~

Hannah and Heather   :)

There was a hypnotist up on stage ~ The fireworks go off just above that tree line ~ Awesome!

Old Glory

Skydivers

The Schorrs met us up there as is our yearly tradition :)

The best part of the evening ~ Fireworks!

Sweetly Amusing

I had to chuckle at a phone call I got today :)
Danielle said "Hi Mommy, I want to make banana bread but I have two dilemmas. I don't have a bread/muffin pan and I don't have a recipe"
It made me think of all the phone calls I used to make to my mom when we were newly wed and young parents :)

The girls are settling into their apartment nicely and loving it! I'm so proud of them.

Ben is helping at a sports camp this week.  Our church is helping a youth group from Oregon put it on. The kids at the camp get to play a variety of sports and hear about Jesus.

We plan on touring more Parade of Homes later this week ~

Parade of Homes ~ Beautiful Inspiration!

It's here!
Northern Wasatch Home Builders Assc.
        Parade of Homes 2012

We love looking through these homes for inspiration ~ It's amazing ( & sometimes ridiculous!) what people invest in these homes. We always come away with great ideas that can be done on a more realistic scale.

I don't want to keep you waiting :)

Last night we went through our first house up in Liberty which is located in Ogden Valley ~ my hearts home away from home.
I can't believe I forgot to take a picture of the outside of the house ~ ugh! ~ I was too excited to get inside!
This home was built by Peterson Builders Inc. located in Ogden Valley. The Peterson's are an extraordinary family. There are 10 kids in that family. We've lived next to one of the sons and his wife for the last 5 years. The very best neighbors ever!

But I know ~ you want to see pictures :) So..........

Front Door ~ Love, Love, Love :) The arch, the glass, the color, the hardware. It wouldn't fit in my purse so I left it there! Ha!

The kitchen and the view were equally captivating ~ I've always liked the idea of having 3 windows over the sink.

I love the contrasted look of stained wood cabinets with a painted island.

Beautiful dining room ~  the expanse of doors really brings the outdoors in.

The doors are simple but impact this area greatly.

Laundry room ~ Laundry would never be a chore again! I would rather have the washer and dryer under the windows though so I could look out :)

Guest Room

The master bedroom is simply stunning. The brick wall is love at first sight :)
Barn doors are all over Pinterest right now and I'm one of the millions who is smitten with them!
This one is custom made and gorgeous especially next to the brick wall.

Master bath ~ It's upsized :)
The woodwork throughout the house is spot on beautiful!

A little gas fireplace in the master bedroom.

Master bath ~ I love how the light is positioned in the middle of the mirror. I love the light fixtures.

Master bath looking into the master bedroom

Pretty :) Guest room.

Lots of pillows ~ Guest room

Loft area for the grandkids ~ The two darker openings are very creative sleeping areas I will show you in a minute.

Fun  space to create in :)

First sleeping area ~ My favorite! So simple, so creative, so burlap!
Yes, the walls and shelf are covered entirely with  burlap.
How fun is that?

Burlap is mod podged to the walls and I believe they used upholstery tacks.
Are the wheels in your head spinning? Mine are :)

Looking inside a little closer.

The other sleeping area ~ The walls are textured and painted to look like a cave.

Closer look

Windows in grandkids loft ~ Not a bad view!

So cool!
This is the grandkids bathroom and what an awesome bathtub!!

Bath time is very colorful!

When they outgrow the fire engine the regular tub is waiting below.

Who doesn't love Dick and Jane?
The interior designer, Clayton Thompson, brought this page to the frame shop where I work and had us frame it along with some botanical prints for the foyer.

This playhouse is at the bottom of the stairs in the basement. It's fabulous! The roof catches your eye but the trees beg you to come look closer.

I'm not sure how exactly they did this but I was impressed!

It looks like they used silk leaves.

Barn door for the laundry room ~ It's a beauty.

More barn door loveliness :)

A large barn door on the far wall.

Beautiful bank of windows with a great view.

Quite the bench by the pool table ~ Pretty.

Bamboo floors in the basement.

Well, one house down and lots more to go! I will be sharing more house photos as we go along :)

Home at Last :)

Dani and Ben came home late Monday night.

 My heart is happy :)

They are:
*Jet Lagged
*Missing Manila and the people there
*Full of stories about all they've seen and done in the last 2 weeks
*Grateful for the chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves

Dani said she will do some blog posts here on my blog and share pictures along with her thoughts about this trip.
She'll be doing this in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for your prayers ~ God is Good!
