Time With My Dad: Part 1

It was wonderful to have my dad here for 2 weeks!
We didn't get out to take pictures very much as the weather was not real great alot of the time! Utah just had it's wettest May on record with at least 5" in rain. That translates into the mountains getting quite a bit more snow! One ski resort out of SLC got 1' of snow in 24 hours this last weekend and people were snowboarding / skiing for Memorial Day weekend!! That's crazy! The resort said they should be open through the 4th of July ( a first! )
Ogden Canyon had a mudslide again a couple days ago and many of the hiking trails are closed due to saturated and unstable ground.
Dad and I got up a week ago this past Saturday and drove up towards Trappers Loop about 7am. It was a beautiful morning. We took the Stoddard/Peterson exit and set up our tripods along the side of the road. I'm learning to use my camera in manual mode instead of auto so some of these pictures aren't as great as they could be. Just bear with me as I learn!

Wasatch Mountains along Stoddard / Peterson

After a few pictures we drove over to Trappers Loop and set up along the road. The mountains were constantly changing as the clouds rolled along.

I love this picture of my dad

I think he was checking to see what the sun was doing on the hills behind us

One last look at Snowbasin in the early morning light

Last Wednesday Dad and I hopped on the FrontRunner train and headed to Salt Lake City for the day. We were mostly going to visit the Family History Library and do some research. We ended up getting a bit sidetracked but still had a wonderful day!

FrontRunner station here in Ogden ~ "it's all within reach"
Pretty much any winter or summer activity you can do within 30 minutes of Ogden ~

Leaving Ogden

Arriving in SLC

This is your view as you get off the train in SLC ~ across the way is where you get on the TRAX ( light rail system ) and get around almost anywhere in downtown SLC for free

Join me tomorrow....we'll walk through Temple Square. You will love the flowers :)
